Camp Ground Details
Alpine Fir Camp
Located between White Fir and Douglas Fir camp grounds at the North end of the complex. It will hold approx. 200 people and has a nice volley ball and horse-shoe area. It remains one of the favorite camps. There are 2 "A" frames in this camp each having approx. 350 square feet of area including an overhead loft. The storage or serving building is approx. 350 square feet in size and contains a commercial propane grill and many tables and chairs.
Balsam Fir Camp
Located across the road from White Fir camp ground. This is the smallest camp and will hold approx. 50 people. It is great for small groups or families. It may be used as an overflow to White Fir Camp. There is 1 "A" frame and no storage shed in this camp. Each "A" frame has approx. 350 square feet of area including an overhead loft.
Douglas Fir Camp
Located at the North end of the complex, this is the largest camp and is capable of holding nearly 400 people in two large loops. The Y/W like this camp for their rough camps. There are 3 "A" frames in this camp and a large volley ball area and shower building adjacent to the camp. Each "A" frame has approx. 350 square feet of area including an overhead loft. There is a pavilion in this camp but it must be shared with other camps, especially Alpine Fir. The storage or serving building is approx. 350 square feet in size and contains a commercial propane grill and many tables and chairs.
Limber Pine Camp
Located at the South-east end of the complex, this camp has the water tanks located on it and also the highest point in the camp facility (9370 feet). It has more open area than the other camps and will hold approx. 300 people. There are 3 "A" frames in the camp and many camping areas. Each "A" frame has approx. 350 square feet of area including an overhead loft. There is a pavilion in this camp but it must be shared with other camp sites. The storage or serving building is approx. 350 square feet in size and contains a commercial propane grill and many tables and chairs.
White Fir Camp
Located just North of the fork-in-the-road, this camp will hold approx. 150 people and is great for family reunions or small ward outings. There are 2 "A" frames in the camp and a new rebuilt storage shed with a large loft overhead. Each "A" frame has approx. 350 square feet of area including an overhead loft. There is also a commercial propane grill and many tables and chairs.
Aspen Grove Family Camp
Located at the fork-in-the-road east of the Camp Manager's cabin. This camp has a large "A" frame with approx. 1000 sq. ft. of space including the loft. Water is available and a portable "construction site" toilet is stationed nearby. A fire-ring is located adjacent to the building for fires. A wood burning stove is installed inside for those cold nights or winter usage. There are currently no other facilities as in the larger camp grounds.
Individual
There are currently 2 individual camp sites available for those who want to be "alone". No water or toilet facilities are available at these camps. Cedar Point Camp overlooks the valley to the West and Spring Trail Camp is located just west of Aspen Grove and at the start of the Spring Trail. These 2 sites are not scheduled like the other camps. Availability is first-come, first-served.
What
1. Plenty of firewood
2. All toilets are now the "flush" type in each camp. A portable out-house is available at the Aspen Grove family "A" frame. The new shower buildings also have inside flush toilets. You must bring your own toilet paper as the Camp furnishes first roll only.
3. Drinking water (State inspected) is generally abundant but conservation is always in order.
4. "A" Frames. Balsam Fir has one; White Fir and Alpine Fir each have two; Limber Pine and Douglas Fir each have 3. Usage is on a "first come - first served" basis. Each "A" frame has a cement floor and will accommodate 8 to 10 sleeping bags. There is a loft located about 8 ' above that has room for 6 more sleeping bags. If it is bad weather you could probably squeeze more than 15 inside! Each is approx. 350 square feet in size including the loft.
5. Amphitheaters and storage sheds are in each of the 4 main camp grounds (there is no storage shed in Balsam Fir). The storage sheds are quite large and can be used to store food and other camping equipment in them. They are wired so that a generator can be connected outside to provide lights etc. The shed in White Fir has been rebuilt and has a large loft overhead for additional storage or sleeping area. Tables and chairs are in all the sheds and can be used to eat in when the weather is bad. You could also put many sleeping bags down on the cement floor too if the weather is bad.
6. A commercial 3 ft. wide griddle is installed in each camp's shed, however, you must bring your own propane tank. The connecting hose is already in place. You may wish to bring additional stoves to supplement this griddle.
7. Showers. 2 shower buildings, one at each end of the camp complex. But, the water is not heated! Many groups bring those portable sun-heated water heaters and then take them into the shower building. There are also 2 flush toilets in each of the shower buildings
8. For the 2011 summer season we will provide large dumpsters for trash.
What
1. Electricity - but generators are available from the Camp Manager, however, only 1 generator per camp is allowed. If you have people on oxygen that require electrical power then you should bring your own generator for that purpose.
2. Gasoline or propane - you must bring your own.
3. Tents or other temporary shelters.
4. Waste disposal. All toilet waste from the toilets are pumped by a contracted disposal service. There is no camper "dump" service.
5. Trash dumpsters. (See item 8 above)
6. Streams of water or Lakes.
7. There are no heating stoves in any of the buildings except for the Aspen Grove family "A" frame. Personal heating devices, such as propane heaters, are not recommended for use above 7000'. Fire danger and carbon monoxide poisoning are ever present.
Emergency Services
In case of an emergency from accident or health issues there is hospital and ambulance service available in Price. Use the 911 emergency number from your cell phone. If there is need for law enforcement then the sheriff must be dispatched out of Roosevelt or Duchesne. Again 911. If a fire breaks out then the U.S. Forest service would be involved and access is through 911. All of this info is posted on the outside of the manager's cabin.
